Spring Training
I'm writing this while I sit inside on what is probably one of the wettest days we have seen for a while.
Spring has sprung in the air but not necessarily the legs yet. There is cherry blossom everywhere and we have had some stunning days, nearly warm enough to lose the arm warmers.
There is less than 2 months now to go till event day! I've finally managed to get some rides above 50km in and I’m looking forward to ramping up the training and really getting some distance in for October.
This time last year I was having my surgery on my Achilles and had to enjoy the sunshine seated reading a book. My physio assures me that there will be a few people out there that haven't done as much training as I have and will still make it around, I'm sure this is true. It’s surprising what you can pull out on the day.
It is probably time to take my flat pedals off and put the clip pedals back on, and so far so good on the magpie front, no swoopers as yet so I don't need a helmet full of cable ties and eyes in the back of my head…long may it last.
My recent learning is that no matter how long you stare at a hill, they don't get shorter or flatter so don't look at them, just keep on pedaling.
