May Recap
In May, I was super excited to get back on the track with my teammates. We quickly fell into a good rhythm, and our consistent work in the gym started to show in our start efforts. I also raced in three different club races with the B grade men. They made the races super challenging, but I produced some excellent power numbers that pleased my coach.
I started my second round of sleeping in the altitude tent, but after a week, I decided with my support staff to stop early as I wasn’t sleeping well, and it was affecting my training. It was a bit frustrating, but after taking a few days off the bike and sleeping better, I was back to my normal self.
As we get closer to our departure date, we have begun some heat stress training, which involves sitting shoulder deep in a 40 degree spa for 30 minutes twice a week. It’s definitely uncomfortable sweating uncontrollably, but hopefully, it will prepare us for the European summer.
We also had our Olympic team naming ceremony on the 22nd of May. It was such a cool event with a delicious French themed platter and my best supporters there to watch me receive my fern.
