Shimano NZ Delivers Ultimate Bike Builds to Lucky Road Rider in Nelson
Shimano New Zealand is proud to support the local cycling community by delivering two ultimate bike builds to Andre Weal of Murchison, the lucky winner of the Shimano prize at the 2024 Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge.
Instead of opting for a single top-of-the-line bike valued at over $15,000, Andre took a thoughtful approach by choosing two lower-specified bikes. This decision enables both him and his friend Jared to ride together and continue pursuing their passion for cycling.
Andre and his family were presented with the bikes at MyRide Richmond, his local bike shop, where the team celebrated his win and helped him gear up for his next ride. To complete the ultimate prize package, Andre also received a new Lazer helmet and Shimano shoes.
The Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge is New Zealand’s premier road cycling event, drawing thousands of participants each year. Shimano NZ is dedicated to nurturing the growth of this landmark event and the wider cycling community, contributing to healthier, happier lives across the country.
“At Shimano, we are committed to supporting events like the Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge and ensuring that more New Zealanders experience the joy of cycling,” said Taylor Gunman, Shimano NZ’s National Sales Manager and former professional cyclist.
Looking ahead to the next event, Taylor added, “We’re excited to welcome more riders in 2025, as the opportunity to win this amazing prize is truly within reach.”
