Training, racing, and gearing up for Worlds
For the month of July I started off with 6 days of track racing in Podenzano, Italy. The racing was extremely valuable and I learnt so much (especially in the Madison event) that I hope to apply in the race at Worlds. After that we relocated to Varese, Italy where we spent 1.5 weeks training on the road and getting some heat stress with temps at 30 degrees + most days! I completed a couple of really good vo2 sessions which gave me a lot of confidence for the pre worlds track training camp in Switzerland.
We then relocated to Switzerland on the 18th of July and joined up with the rest of the track team (sprinters & mens endurance). Our team pursuit was absolutely flying! We did a 4km team pursuit simulation in a time of 4.10.7mins which we were super proud of and really happy to see all the hard work we had all done coming through. I also did a 3 minute power test and achieved my best ever power. It gave me a lot of confidence in my ability and form for the individual pursuit race at Worlds.
We then travelled to Glasgow for final preparations for the Track Cycling World Champs starting on the 3rd of August.
