Track Cycling World Championships
In the beginning of August I competed at the Track Cycling World Championships held in Glasgow. I had some pretty good results from this competition placing 3rd in the Individual Pursuit and 2nd in the Team Pursuit but still felt a mix of emotions.
While I was happy with the outcomes, I was unhappy with some of my performances and didn’t quite reach the goals I had set for myself. I did however take a lot of learnings from this and what I need more of in training over the next 11 months in order to be in the best form of my life come the Paris Olympics next year.
After the world champs I had 3 weeks off training. I spent the first 9 days touring the hebridean way in Scotland on bikes with my dad. We biked 30-80km each day on much heavier bikes than I am used to! We saw some really amazing views and met a lot of really lovely people along the way. It was definitely a trip to remember!
I spent the remaining time I had off catching up on my university studies, enjoyed a quick trip over the ditch to Sydney with my partner, and got back into running.
It has been a really refreshing mental break more than anything but now I am itching to get back into training and start the build up to the 2024 Olympic Games and Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge.
