A humble thanks to all the wonderful supporters who kindly donated their previous event entry fee to go to worthy Taupō community groups.

As you’ll know, due to the challenges of Covid-19 over the last two years, we have been unable to run the BDO Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge since 2019.

Apart from anything else, this has meant a most unfortunate loss of income to many local businesses and of course the very many volunteer groups who are usually engaged to help make the event the success that it is.

As a Rotary event, operated by a Charitable Trust, it has also meant Lake Taupō Rotary has been without the proceeds from two years of events which it would normally distribute to worthy causes and charities throughout Taupō.

When we were again forced to cancel the already postponed event in February this year we refunded a significant portion of entrants’ registration fees.

At the time, we also provided the opportunity for entrants to advise us that they would prefer to donate their entry fee to support local Taupō community groups, as opposed to receiving a refund.

We were pleased and humbled to see many of our fans take up this option which resulted in $17,000 being made available to distribute to worthy community groups.

Your donated money has now been allocated and we are pleased to let you know that there are more than fifteen local groups who will benefit as a result of your generosity.
