Supporting our Taupō community
Join us in celebrating the Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge as it gears up for its 46th year! As New Zealand’s longest-standing cycling event, it brings together thousands of riders and supporters, showcasing the vibrant spirit of our Taupō community.
This event is unique - locally owned and not-for-profit, all surpluses go back into the community through grants for deserving groups and organisations. We are a Rotary event, operated by a Charitable Trust, with all surpluses from the event being distributed in the Taupō Community by Lake Taupo Rotary.
Each year, we donate tens of thousands of dollars to local volunteer groups who help bring the event to life, and contribute over $300,000 to local contractors and suppliers, creating an annual economic benefit of over $6 million for the region.
With lots of options including our iconic Shimano Round the Lake, mountain bike and gravel options such as the Tineli Huka Hundy - the new kid on the block – as well as family friendly rides, there’s something for everyone. Whether you’re riding, cheering, or enjoying the atmosphere at the Event Village, we invite you to get involved and make this year’s event memorable for our entire community!
