Event day is here, time to put all the hard work into practice.
3 Key things to think about before and during the event:
Pacing - Putting in big efforts early on can cost you later in the ride. Try not to get carried away with the excitement of the event and big groups and go beyond your limits early on. Keeping a little left in the legs for the last quarter can make a big difference to your time.
Nutrition - Make a plan of when you’ll eat your main pieces of food and how much hydration you’ll need. I.e first banana at 30km. This will make sure you are fuelled for later in the event and can use those energy gels to get you home as fast as possible.
Stay safe & communicate - Remember to keep your eyes up and aware of your surroundings at all times, pushing hard on the pedals can make you less cautious especially later in the event. Be confident to communicate clearly with the riders around you when needed to point out and hazards or turns etc.
