Lakesider

If you’re looking for the perfect entry-level, mostly off-road, recreational cycling challenge that showcases the best of this stunning region, the Lakesider is the event for you.

Grab your family and friends and make a weekend of it. This leisurely 16km ride is predominantly flat and offers plenty of jaw-dropping, beautiful scenic moments synonymous with the Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge.

This truly special course winds its way around the iconic lakefront bays via the paths and parks Taupō is famous for. This is a perfect mixture of “on-road” and off-road riding, including concrete paths, gravel paths, and a bit of grass; suitable for kids’ bikes, mountain bikes, and leisure cruisers.

A new addition to the course this year, takes riders up through the new Ngaroto Estate gullies, lined with beautiful native plantings. Have a picnic on the lake front and soak up the views, then head to the finish line and take in the atmosphere of being part of New Zealand’s largest cycling event.
