Gravel Grind
Be a part of the growing gravel riding community in the epic, new Gravel Grind event. This approx. 83km adventure event combines sealed and unsealed surfaces and showcases some of the unique points of difference and scenery that the Taupō district has to offer.
Using local MTB tracks, gravel roads, farm tracks, and tar-sealed roads in the region, this event is all about the experience, but it also features a timed hill climb and sprint stage for those with a competitive spirit.
You’ll be fully immersed in all the event day hype and be well-appointed to soak up the atmosphere of the after-match back at the event village where you can celebrate your ride and swap stories with other riders and supporters.
As the majority of the course takes place on private roads, please do not ride on these at any time except on the event.
The course is approximately 70% GRAVEL ROADS/TRACKS, 11% Tarseal, 16% Mountain Bike trails and 3% other. The Mountain Bike trails are mostly Grade 2 or very easy Grade 3.
We’re fortunate to be given access to ride on private land for the event. Please note that cycling these private roads is prohibited outside of the event.
