Overview

This 40km recreational event was introduced to showcase the best of what Lake Taupo has to offer. We want anyone and everyone to take on this scenic beauty of a ride. You won’t be disappointed. Take a break from your busy life and give yourself an excuse for a weekend away. If you are new to road cycling, have an e-bike you want to test out its capabilities, or are looking for the perfect entry level stepping stone event to take on longer distance events, the Quarter Lake is for you.

After a relaxing bus ride from Taupo township, this ride starts in the sleepy scenic marina of Motuoapa. Once you arrive at the marina, take your time to locate your bike and soak up the atmosphere before heading out onto the road where you will be started in small groups under the direction of the Quarter Lake starter.  Not long after rolling along the flats out of Motuoapa you get to experience the most scenic section of the lake, so make sure you take a bit of time to look up and appreciate the beauty of Bulli Point and the road as it winds along right next to the Lake. After this your legs will be tested on the infamous Hatepe Hill. You’re now on the last stretch into town, as you make your final push past the airport and along the stunning lakefront to the finish line.
