He last rode for Orica-GreenEDGE on the UCI World Tour in 2012 and served as technical advisor for the team until the end of 2013. As a triple winner of the Tour de France's green jersey sprinters' classification and 12 stage victories in both the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia, at his peak he was considered the fastest sprinter  in the world. McEwen was named 2002 Australian Cyclist of the Year, 2002 Male Road Cyclist of the Year and 1999 Australia Male Road Cyclist of the Year.

Robbie now works as a freelance TV commentator and analyst at World Tour events for SBS and Channel 9 in Australia. He also co-hosts The Bike Lane weekly show on SBS.

Robbie has already met some of you at our expo site at the Santos Tour Down Under in Adelaide and he is pleased to be helping us to promote New Zealand's premier cycling event to cyclists in Australia.  We look forward to having him and his family in Taupo this year to experience the event himself.

Robbie is an engaging public speaker and you will get the chance to hear him, meet him and ride with him at this year's event!

Robbie also organizes the Robbie McEwen Granfondo cycling event on the Gold Coast www.robbiesgranfondo.com and he has a range of RobbieMcEwenCycling branded cycling gear and anti-friction chamois cream.
